Being in the Top 10 of a high school graduation class is no small feat. Not only does it take intelligence, hours upon hours of studying, hard work and determination but it also takes a lot of course planning early on, often beginning in middle school. On Wednesday, May 18, seventy students were honored at the 14th annual FISD Top 10 Luncheon.

The top ten Raccoons, Titans, Wolverines, Redhawks, Coyotes, Rangers and Knights from the Class of 2016 were celebrated at the 14th annual Frisco ISD Top Ten Luncheon on May 18 at the Collin College Preston Ridge Campus. These top seniors, their parents and honored teachers of the students' choice were invited to eat lunch, share memories and celebrate their achievements.

The Arts in the Square 2016 committee selected three poster finalists submitted from the CTE Center Graphic Design School: Rachel Goodman, Cory Madden and Lindsey Morrison. Morrison won. The seventh annual Arts in the Square, scheduled April 2-3, presented in collaboration with the Frisco Independent School District, will transform Frisco Square into an outdoor fine arts and crafts gallery with free admission and parking.

The poster winner is Lindsey Morrison, a Graphic Design student at the CTE Center. Winners in each category will receive cash awards on Saturday, April 2nd, during the Festival. Top entries will be exhibited at Frisco ISD booth at Arts in the Square, April 2-3, 2016.
CTE Student Designs Winning Poster for Arts in the Square

Lindsey Morrison, a graphic design and illustration student at the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center, designed the official poster for the 7th Annual Arts in the Square. The outdoor fine arts and crafts festival will be held April 2-3 in Frisco Square. Admission and parking are free. Proceeds from this community event go to the Frisco Education Foundation and Frisco Family Services. Morrison’s design was one of three finalists in a poster contest, with the winner chosen by community members on Facebook.
Cross Curricular Project at CTE Center Produces Children's Books

High school students at the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center have worked together for the past four years to create children’s books focusing on positive character traits such as acceptance, honesty, doing your best and never giving up. Senior students in the upper level Education courses taught by Mrs. Courtney wrote the books, while students in Mrs. Bacon's Advanced graphic design and illustration created the artwork using Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator. Graphic Student's Work to be exchanged around the World

Each Advanced graphic student designed a flag to showcase the beautiful community in which we live and service. The Rotary provided photographs for the students to use that included key images in the city. The three finalists selected were Lindsey Morrison (CHS senior), Emily Sontheimer (LHS junior) and Nicole Williams (CHS Senior). After the finalist selection, some revisions were made to each design, and then the Rotary Club sent all three flags to their members for a vote.
Graphic Design Students Sweep Teens in the Drivers Seat Contest

Student poster designs from the Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center were selected as winners in a statewide graphic design contest sponsored by State Farm and Teens in the Drivers Seat. As a result, State Farm presented the graphic design program at the CTE Center with a check for $1,750. The posters are used to promote safe teen driving. CTE students have been winners in the contest for the past two years, but this year FISD students swept the entire contest. Winners Kendall Metcalf and Lindsey Morrison are first-year design students and Abigail Wroten is an advanced design student, according to instructor Dianna Bacon.
Curtsinger Student Wins T-Shirt Contest

The Frisco Arts Association held its Third Annual T-shirt Design Contest recently and once again an FISD student artist came up with a winning design that captures the spirit of the organization. The contest is open to all FISD schools in the quest to find that one unique work of art to grace the front of their yearly membership T-shirt. The winning artwork was created by artist Lindsey Morrison a 5th grader from Curtsinger Elementary.

Once again the Frisco art teachers and students have soared at the Butterfly Day Art Contest at EmilyAnn Theater with many Frisco ISD students winning awards and the official 2008 tee shirt displaying the art of Curtsinger student, Lindsey Morrison, who studies under Laverne Forwark.
